STATEMENT OF BELIEFS

Statement of Beliefs

  • We believe and teach that there is one God, Creator of all things, Who is infinitely perfect, existing eternally in three manifestations: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe and teach Jesus Christ to be truly God and truly man. He was conceived by the Virgin Mary through the Holy Spirit. He died on the cross, and all who believe in Him are justified on the grounds of His shed blood. He arose from the dead on the third day and is now seated at the right hand of the Father, making intercession for us as our Great High Priest. (I Corinthians 15:3, 4; Romans 8:26, 27, 34; Hebrews 7:25)

  • We believe and teach that the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God sent to indwell, guide, teach and empower the believer, (Acts 1:8) and to convict the world of sin, of righteousness and of judgment. (John 16:8)

  • We believe and teach that all men are born with a sinful nature, are separated from the life of God, and those who repent and believe in Christ Jesus are born again of the Holy Spirit, receive the gift of eternal life, and become the children of God. (John 3:16; John 7:37; Romans 10:9, 10)

  • We believe and teach that each born again believer should be baptized in water by immersion, typifying burial with Christ. Since baptism identifies us with the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ, (Romans 6:1 - 4) we believe that it should be administered in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is the first act of sanctification, and therefore, no believer should be without it. (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Luke 24:47 Acts 2:38)

  • We believe and teach that it is the will of God that each believer be filled with the Holy Spirit, being separated from sin and the world and fully dedicated to the Kingdom of God, thereby receiving power for effective service. We further believe that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a separate experience from eternal salvation. (John 3:3, 5; 7:37, 38; Luke 24:49; Acts 1:8)

  • We believe and teach that prayer for the sick and anointing with oil are privileges for the Church in this present age as taught in the Scriptures. We believe that salvation, deliverance, and divine healing are contained in the atonement. (James 5:14, 15; Isaiah 53:4, 5)

  • We believe and teach that the Church consists of all those who believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, are redeemed through His blood, and are born again of the Holy Spirit. (John 3:16) Christ is the Head of the Body, the Church, which has been commissioned by Him to go into all the world as a witness, preaching the Gospel to all nations. (Mark 16:16; Matthew 28:19)

  • We believe and teach that the local Church is a body of believers in Christ who are joined together for the worship of God, for edification through the Word of God, for prayer, fellowship, the proclamation of the Gospel, and observance of the ordinances of the Baptism and the Lord's Supper.  (Acts 2:42-47)

  • We believe and teach that the second coming of the Lord Jesus is imminent and will be personal and visible.  This is the believer's blessed hope and is a vital truth which is an incentive to holy living and faithful service. (I Corinthians 15: 51 - 58; I Thessalonians 4:16,17)
